Stintino Resort – north of Alghero

The small Sardinian coastal resort of Stintino is located on the northwest peninsular of Sardinia and is some 50km north of Alghero. Travel time to the town by your hire car from Alghero is approximately one hour.
Only founded just over one hundred years ago Stintino was formed due to the government requesting to use a local island as a prison and therefore relocated local residents to this current site.
The town is like a mini Manhatten, with grid-like streets, albeit on a miniscule scale in comparison. There are two harbours, Porto Nuovo to the north and Porto Vecchio to the south. Due to their being no town square or centre, these ports are the two main tourist venues of Stintino.
The food in Stentino is largely seafood, due to the ports here and most of the restaurants are absolutely wonderful. This can be a busy little town though, when compared to Bosa in the south. The beaches are beautiful and this means that space on the beaches at peak time can be at a premium. However, during your stay in Alghero, don’t hesitate to jump into your hire car and see Stintino as it is well worth the trip.
